Youth Entrepreneurship Support (YES) Project

The Youth Entrepreneurship Support (YES) project with the theme ‘YES YOU CAN’, is designed to inspire, equip youth with entrepreneurship skills and support enterprise growth. The project adopts the Project goal; Inspire, skill and support youth to establish profitable and sustainable enterprises.

Project objectives

  1. Cause mindset change amongst the youth on agripreneurship and create awareness on strategic investment opportunities in agribusiness value chains.
  2. Equip and mentor young entrepreneurs with business skills.
  3. Provide affordable and accessible credit services to the youth to support development.

Implementation strategy

The project adopt a multi-faceted business development approach that incorporates; business development fellowships, business incubation, investment clubs and business credit services.

Business Development Fellowships (BDFs)

This is a 5 day customized business mentorship classes that is intended to support young entrepreneurs model their business ideas into scalable and profitable businesses. The five days of engagement are phased into five milestones with the intention that, every participant must achieve a complete
implementable business plan in the fifth milestone. Therefore, the five days could stretch to one month depending on the complexity of the business idea.

Business Incubation

Entrepreneurs with feasible business plans are supported throughout the implementation process of their respective business plans. Every entrepreneur is assigned a business mentor that ensures proper and effective implementation of the business plan.

Business Credit Services

All youth agripreneurs whose businesses are up and running will be eligible to access collateral free, low interest agribusiness credit facility from YAIC Fund or recommended to a matching grant in Government.
The loan however is guaranteed by the beneficiary guardian or next of kin with the capacity to pay back the loan in an event of misappropriation.

Investment Clubs

These are area based and enterprise specific investment clubs with a profit orientation for its members.
All youth with related business interests voluntarily come together sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in line with the intended business enterprise. This is registered as a member area based investment club with relevant authorities. This is aimed at increasing the investment capacity of the youth to venture into profitable and scalable enterprises.
